This May is National Mobility Awareness Month in support of people with disabilities, and raising awareness of mobility solutions available in communities across the globe. Over 18 million people in North America currently live with restricted mobility issues.
In celebration of this month a non-profit organization, The National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA), are highlighting the lives of a few great people who are triumphing in the face of adversity. Local Heroes across the United States and Canada have been sharing stories about how they or someone they know have overcome the challenges of living with a disability. All the Local Heroes stories are entered into a chance to win a 2013 Custom Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle.
Pictured above, Alberto Cruz was one of the Local Heroes in last year’s awareness month who won a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. The Chrysler Group has donated prizes again this year. All Local Heroes stories are posted on www.mobilityawarenessmoth.com where you can read all the heroes inspiring stories and vote for someone once per day. The Heroes who are in the top 5% of vote earners will be reviewed by an independent panel of judges that are in the mobility specialty field. This year Dodge City of McKinney is honored to have the ability to voice support for a Local Hero in our area, Justin Fetz of Van Alstyne, TX.
Justin is 29 years old and spends his entire year helping raise awareness and providing encouragement to people living with disabilities as he works for a local non-profit organization called Camp Craig Allen. He is a very great and inspiring young man who this writer is fortunate to know, you can read his Local Hero story here. We invite all of our friends and our family of customers to give Justin a Vote and help him have a better chance at winning a much needed new vehicle. Voting will conclude on Friday, May 10, 2013 and the winners will be announced on May 25th so don’t wait, vote now! And from everyone at Dodge City of McKinney, good luck to Justin and all of the Local Heroes across the globe!
