2015 Chrysler 100

Cool Cars

It’s early enough that even 2015 Chrysler 100 may not have finalized plans for the engine portfolio, but the sign in the photo that reads, “E85 ONLY!” gives a hint: Currently, the only engines in the Chrysler family that drink alcohol are the ancient 4.7-liter V-8 and the new 3.6-liter Penta…

Keeping Your Car Cool Throughout Summer

July is rapidly approaching and the temperature is steadily rising each day. As much as we Texans love summertime, we also simultaneously hate it and the triple-degree heat that comes with it. Texas heat is rough on people, but it is even tougher on your vehicles. Courtesy of Dodge City of McKinney here are a few tips on keeping your car safe and cool during the summer.

First are a few things you can do that may seem obvious, but you may not realize how important they are to the health of your vehicle during the summer months. A window shade not only makes your vehicle more pleasant to enter after sitting in the sun for extended periods of time, but it also protects the interior of your vehicle from fading cloth or cracked leather. Another thing you should do is park in the shade. Parking in the shade is a pretty obvious thing to do, but what many people might not think about is parking where the shade will be. When you arrive to the office in the morning you might be tempted to grab those spots covered in shade, but late in the afternoon when the heat really hits the shade may be somewhere else and that’s where you should park.

roadtripAnother crucial thing you can do is have your car checked to ensure it’s safe for the summer weather. Your car’s cooling system is critical to summer driving. Your cooling system strives to keep the engine at a constant 200 degrees Fahrenheit to protect your engine against corrosion, provide more fuel combustion, and maintain proper oil viscosity. Unfortunately, in hot weather, your coolant could reach over 250 degrees, causing your vehicle to overheat. Having your cooling system checked for leaks or cracks in the hoses is crucial to ensure you don’t face costly engine repairs in the future.

The next topic is one that we in Texas constantly worry about: Air Conditioning. Before your air conditioning quits cooling, you can have your vehicle checked for worn or damaged belts, dirty filters, low refrigerant levels, and blocked condenser fins.

Bringing your vehicle in to the service department of Dodge City of McKinney for a summer check-up can help keep you cool on the road and avoid costly repairs in the future. Visit them today 700 South Central Expressway in McKinney, Texas or give them a call at 972.569.9650 today!

2015 Dodge Journey

Cool Cars

As for the engine options, the 2015 Dodge Journey Crossroad will have the exact same old machines. There’s a four-cylinder 2.4L DOHC motor, which gives 173 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 166 lb.-ft. of torque at 4000 rpm. With front-wheel drive and an outdated 4-speed automated transmission, its fu…
